P. Burgos cops help build house for a mentally-ill resident

Brgy. Poblacion , Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte – In relation to the objective to develop programs that shape good public perception towards the PNP and 26th Police Community Relations Month Celebration, with the Theme: “Pulisya at Pamayanan, BARANGAYanihan sa Hamon ng Pandemya at Laban sa Krimen”, the police force of Padre Burgos MPS, Southern Leyte PPO, led by PLT KEIR JHON R HALLASGO, OIC, joined forces with other stakeholders in building a new shelter for a mentally-ill resident of Brgy. Buenavista, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.

The said project was realized after the said Brgy Council, headed by Hon. Buen Rene R. Bernales, Brgy. Chairperson, initiated to build a shelter for Delmar V. Vasquez, a.k.a. “Loloy” or “Bang-bang”, who was reportedly aggressive and violent at times, hence the subject of many complaints in the community.

Further, the project aims to provide a safe and comfortable abode to the said recipient as he is often seen wandering the area.

In active partnership with the PNP personnel of this unit and the generous contribution and support of other private individuals, the construction of the said shelter was made possible.

Accordingly, a brief ceremony was held this afternoon, July 12, 2021, to commemorate the formal turn-over of the said project.

“I personally commend the efforts of the Brgy Council for initiating this project. This is indeed a clear representation that the Padre Burgos cops are active partners in supporting a noble cause in the community. May the story of Vasquez serves as an inspiration to more people to continue serving”, says PLT HALLASGO.

In attendance during the Turned-over were Father Roy Royeras, Parish Priest of San Roque, Macrohon, Southern Leyte who also extended help to make the dream of the residents be possible, BLGU of Barangay Buenavista, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte and some stakeholders. (Padre Burgos MPS PR)
