LGU Maasin offers free antigen swab test

MAASIN CITY — The local government here launches free rapid antigen swab testing for local residents in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the city, especially the threat of entry of the new Delta variant.

Local Chief Executive Nacional Mercado said the city government is offering free rapid antigen swab testing for those residents with symptoms of COVID-19 or with exposure to the virus.

“Due to the threat of the Delta variant, there is an urgent need for everyone to act with vigilance and help reduce transmission by constantly adhering to the mandatory health protocols in all instances,” Mercado posted on his social media account.

The mayor explained the rapid antigen swab testing was launched to immediately detect COVID-19 cases in the city.

Mercado said those who wanted to be tested have to coordinate with the City Health Unit (CHU) and City’s Surveillance Officer for medical assessment.

“Also, the public, who experienced flu-like symptoms may call city’s Covid hotline number: 09519105518 or may report to their respective barangay health emergency response team (BHERTS) for their scheduled date, time, and place,” Mercado ended.
